ABOUT

Instep Dance Club is a friendly and supportive Ballroom and Latin Dance Club with the emphasis on enjoyment.  We teach Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba and Paso Doble as well as Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot and Tango.  Your instructor is Christine Wilkes a fully qualified Associate of the United Kingdom Alliance (UKA).   Classes are held every Monday and  you are assured of a warm welcome.

Over the years Instep has established a diverse client base of beginners and more experienced dancers.  Those who have been attending Instep for a number of years often help those who are new, building a rapport and creating new friendships.

Upon joining Instep, one of the most frequent statements made by beginners is "I've got two left feet"!  Rest assured you are not alone in this assumption and gradually, given time, you will develop your dance skills, learning to relax and enjoy.

I believe it is important to focus on 'one step at a time', so that progress can be built upon and confidence developed.  To do this, I only teach two dances (one ballroom and one latin) for each beginners class and only change to another style of dance when the class as a whole has progressed, usually after a couple of months.  This rotation ensures that beginners are not confused by 'too much information'!

Slightly more experienced dancers will help those that are new and in this environment of encouragement and support, confidence in one's dancing ability will steadily develop and grow.

Instep specialises in the skills required for a social dance floor and the techniques taught are geared up to teach dancers how to navigate the dance floor in an anti-clockwise direction, and how to navigate around other dancers - not just to learn a routine down one side of the room!

Over time and as your confidence grows, you may wish to attend the Improvers class. You will be taught an increased variety of more advanced steps accompanied by technical tips to improve your overall skills.  As their confidence and skills improve, many dancers choose to attend both beginners and improvers sessions in order to practise and sustain their basic technique and to further improve their general dancing skills.

Ballroom and Latin Amercan dancing is an excellent way to keep fit, develop good posture and make new friends, so why not join Instep Dance Club and step into a world of fun, friendship and fitness!
